I am always rediscovering old stories I started on my computer. Always. Some of them start off really strongly, but I give up on them pretty quickly. That’s a shame, too, because as I reread my writing I find myself thinking I would read it even if I hadn’t written it. I’m not tooting my own horn or anything, though maybe I should. If I could be a little conceited about it, maybe I would keep going with the stories.
But that’s not my attitude about my stuff. Oh well.
My recent throw back is to a story I started in 2011 called Dragon’s Love. It’s so old I don’t even remember where I was going with it. As I read that 4,000+ words, I found myself really into the characters. I just can’t freaking remember the plot. I’m trying to recreate what I had, sort of. It’s actually kind of in the same universe as La Orden (or at least it was originally). Even tough I don’t remember what I was writing, I found myself writing it anyway. I don’t know where I’m going with it, but the words just started flowing.
Then I found another story I started in 2010. Not so much what I’ve actually written from it, but the outline of the story. I have 18
chapters already lined up for the story. It helps that it’s kind of modeled after an old Spirited Away fan fiction of mine called Path’s Cross. It was always one of the favorite stories I’ve ever started writing. Notice how I haven’t finished that either. I need to start a procrastinator’s club.
. . .maybe tomorrow.
See what I did there? Yes, it’s lame. So sue me.
Actually one of the few of my completed stories is a SA fan-fic titled A Scribe’s Tale. I have to admit to celebrating once I finished it. I think it turned out quite well, in fact. Check it out if you have time.
Anyway, back to work I go. Until next we meet!
