I haven’t blogged since February?! What have I been doing with myself?
A whole lot of nothing (and that’s the truth).
Maybe that’s why I’ve been in a general funk for weeks. All I do is work, come home, sleep, and do it all over again. Every day. Every damn boring day. I know that’s everyone’s lives, but Erica is meant for fun. Or some such.
The other day, on a random drunken post on Facebook, one of my writer friends, Lori Whitwam, commented that I need to write more. Admittedly, it’s been a long time since I’ve even been inspired to write anything. When I read the comment, I felt pretty gloomy. I love writing. Why am I not writing anything? I have so many ideas and I just can’t get myself to, you know, do it.
Though I felt that way, I still couldn’t bring myself to get something down on the old computer. I knew it might help cheer me up, yet I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
I guess it’s because of all my failures. I tried to start up a website to promote writing called GeekScribed. I felt like I did a good job on it, but it never took off. I didn’t really put the effort into it that I should. I really needed to get myself together.
Eventually, I stumbled across a Nerdist post in regards to a contest for scifi/fantasy novels via Inkshares. Ooooh, I thought, something I can get into. Of course, it requires really putting yourself out there, which is terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. After a little badgering from the hubby, I decided to just freaking give it a try.
“Bought” has been in the making for about 7 years or so. It started as a part of an offshoot of an Text RPG I used to play with some friends of mine. After, I serialized it on Literotica. Now, I’m throwing down and finishing what I’ve started. It’s the only book of mine that is 100% mapped out. I just have to keep on keeping on.
It’s about a half-human, half-succubus girl named Thana who is sold to a pair of vampires. One expects her to be his plaything, the other their daytime protector. Through various trials, including sexual ones, Thana begins to realize that maybe she is stronger than her Masters and can some day escape them.
So support your local Erica by checking out her submission on Inkshares. I’ll be sure to thank you personally!
Also, be sure to check out the works Awesome Lori has finished and published (Seriously, she is a really cool chick and a bangin’ writer):
