Noemi was trapped—locked in a cold room with only a candle to light the way. She wrapped her bare arms around her body and bit her lip enough to rip its delicate flesh. Thoughts of escape flooded her mind in a dizzying whirl, but nothing would help this time. The bastard would sooner let her rot in the small bedroom than let her flee.
When she felt tears stinging her eyes, she reprimanded herself. Tears were not going to save her. It hadn’t in the past and it certainly wouldn’t now that the last straw had been broken.
Slowly, she walked to the vanity and sat in the metal bench before the great mirror. Any minute Jerold would unlock the door, slink his way into the room, and expect her to share her body with him.
The horrid realization made her sick.
She slammed her hand on the vanity, causing the meticulously placed items to fall and to spill. Noemi clutched the edges of the table until her knuckles turned white from strain.
“Someone save me…” she whispered hopelessly.
A chill brushed down her back. The sound of night air rushing caught her attention. Slowly, she turned her face towards the large window of the room, finding it open with its sheer white curtains dancing on the chilled wind. She frowned with confusion.
“Noemi,” a deep, masculine voice whispered.
She gasped, worried that Jerold managed to sneak in without her realizing, but soon she noticed that she was alone.
Nervous now, she turned back to the vanity, hoping to find something heavy just in case. When she saw herself in the mirror, she saw that her reflection wasn’t alone. A strange man stood behind her, watching her too closely.
Noemi yelled out, turning quickly with a balled fist that met with no resistance. She nearly fell out of the seat.
“W-what?” she murmured shakily.
Nothing and no one was there. No man stood behind her.
She looked back to the mirror very slowly. He remained there, staring at her with a coy smile on his perfect lips.
“Poor thing,” he said to her, though his mouth never moved. “I don’t mean to confuse you.”
He placed his large, strong hands on her mirror image’s shoulders and she felt the sensual heat of them. She gasped at the simple, yet arousing touch. A chuckle rumbled deep within his chest, and that too made her shiver.
“You asked for rescue, and I came to you, my dear.”
“Who are you?” she asked.
His hands moved to her hair, gently bunching it within a loose fist. He knew exactly what she likes with every touch. Her body ached for more of his delicious hands on her surprisingly willing flesh.
“I am who you need,” he told her as he slowly bent towards her. Just before his lips pressed on her shoulder, he whispered “I am a savior for you.”
One of those large hands moved down her body, brushing along her breasts until her nipples harden beneath the thin cloth covering her. A quiet moan passed through her lips.
“I can be anyone you need me to be,” he continued, his voice a smoldering purr.
Noemi’s head rolled back, meeting no resistance and yet the warmth of another body. The man’s hot, moist mouth made a trail from her shoulder to her craned neck.
“Is this what you want, Noemi? Do you wish for me to save you?”
Unable to speak, she simply nodded eagerly. The man smiled at her and released her from his grasp. Noemi moaned again, this time in frustration. He walked through her mirror image.
“Then come with me…”
He placed his hands on the mirror as he stared at her with hungry, beaconing eyes. She licked her lips as she cautiously lifted her hands.
“Come with me, Noemi…”
What am I doing? she thought to herself. How can I believe in this? This can’t be real.
A jostling sounded behind the locked door followed by a loud, angry, drunken bellow. Jerold was coming. To save herself from savagery she would have to take a chance on something beyond what was real.
She placed her hands on the hard, cold, and uninviting glass. Soon her fingers were met with inviting warmth. The glass rippled and the man pulled her closer towards him. As the locked door opened, Noemi was half way inside a pool of mirror. Distantly, she heard Jerold calling out in alarm, but all she knew was the welcoming arms of her savior.
